About 80 minutes, every 30 minutes. Tourist HARUKA One-way Ticket booked, ¥2,200. Collect at the KIX station machine with the reservation number, PIN, the same credit card and an IC-chip passport, or show the WEST QR. If immigration runs long, the ticket is still valid on a later Haruka in a non-reserved seat. It also covers JR local trains inside Kyoto city, so ride one stop on the Sagano line to Nijo and taxi 5 minutes to the flat (1.3 km, 22 minutes on foot) instead of a 2.1 km taxi from Kyoto Station.
  • 17:15
    Check in at Yuzenkyowas 15:00
From Kyoto Station: taxi about 15 min, or city bus. The flat sits by Mibu-dera temple, a measured 10–11 minute walk from Shijo-Omiya station (Hankyu line and Randen tram).
  • 17:30

Fifteen minutes, not a rest. Every shop you want closes between 20:00 and 21:00, so the clock is against you until dinner.

  • 09:30
Breakfast: Gochisou Yaki Musubi Onimaru, Sanjo Kawaramachi branchplanned
Grilled rice balls. Hankyu Omiya → Kyoto-Kawaramachi, 7-minute walk north. Done by 10:15.
  • 10:15
Walk to Keihan Sanjo, two stops to Kiyomizu-Gojo, walk up Gojo-dori and Gojo-zaka to Chawan-zaka
Measured: 7 minutes to the station, 4 on the train, 1.1 km and about 20 minutes uphill on foot. Leave Onimaru by 10:10 and you are at the shop at 10:45. Taxi from Sanjo is the fallback if it rains, about ¥1,200.
  • 11:00
Kimono dressing at the shop on Chawan-zaka, 2 hoursbooked
Gojobashi-higashi 6-539-35, Higashiyama-ku. Hair and dressing for the group. Leave bags with the shop; take phone, cash, IC card in the kimono sleeve pouch.
  • 13:00
    Professional photoshoot, 2 hoursbooked
Photographer leads: usually Kiyomizu-dera stage and Otowa waterfall, Sannenzaka and Ninenzaka, the Yasaka Pagoda lane. Say beforehand which of these you want so the free walk does not repeat them. Kiyomizu-dera entry is ¥500 cash if the shoot goes inside.
  • 15:00
Free walk in kimono, same area, until 17:00planned
Two hours, all within 10 minutes of the shop. Eat: Yum Cha Kataya, Chawan-zaka store, is in the kimono shop’s own building (Gojobashi-higashi 6-539-35), xiaolongbao and tea, weekdays 10:00–19:00, the natural 16:15 sit-down before you change; Bunnosuke-jaya below Yasaka Pagoda for amazake; % Arabica Higashiyama by the pagoda for coffee; the machiya Starbucks on Ninenzaka. Shop: Chawan-zaka itself is the pottery lane, Asahido main store for Kiyomizu-yaki ceramics; Shichimiya Honpo on Sannenzaka for Kyoto shichimi pepper since 1655; Yojiya on Sannenzaka for blotting papers. See: Kiyomizu-dera if the shoot skipped it (to 18:00), Kodai-ji temple and garden (to 17:30), Yasaka Pagoda from the quiet lane at the bottom. Kasagiya tea house is closed Tuesdays. Measured walks from the shop: Kiyomizu-dera 7 min uphill, Yasaka Pagoda 11 min, Kodai-ji 15 min, and Kodai-ji back to the shop 10 min. A loop of pagoda, Ninenzaka, Kodai-ji and back is about 40 minutes of walking, so with Kataya at 16:15 pick the loop or Kodai-ji, not both. Turn back toward Chawan-zaka at 16:45. Yasaka Shrine is 17 minutes away; it comes after the return.
  • 17:00
Return kimono at the shop, changeshop closes 18:00
Twenty minutes to change and collect bags. Out by 17:20.
  • 17:25
Walk down Nene-no-michi to Yasaka Shrine, then Hanamikojiplanned, moved
Measured 960 m, about 17 minutes on foot to Yasaka Shrine; the lantern hall is lighting up at this hour. Ten minutes in the grounds, 6 minutes to Hanamikoji, five along it. No photos down private alleys, no touching geiko or maiko.
  • 18:10
Quick dinner near Kawaramachi, 40 minutesadded
Hanamikoji to Kyoto-Kawaramachi station is a 9-minute walk. Arashiyama restaurants close by 20:00, so eat here and eat fast: Kyoto-style ramen on Kiyamachi, or a standing sushi counter above the station. Muni was last night. No tea stop today.
  • 18:55
    Hankyu Kyoto-Kawaramachi → Omiya, Randen Shijo-Omiya → Arashiyama
Hankyu 4 minutes, 2-minute walk to the Randen platform, tram 22 minutes, then 5 minutes on foot to the bamboo path. About 35 minutes all in, at Nonomiya by 19:35. Do not take Hankyu to Arashiyama: that station is south of the river and 1.3 km, 20 minutes, from the bamboo path.
  • 19:40
Arashiyama Tsukitouro: bamboo grove by lantern lightyour pick, book
Runs 30 Sep – 8 Nov 2026, lit 18:00–21:00, last entry 20:40, so 19:40 leaves an hour of margin. Togetsukyo Bridge is a 15-minute walk south of the grove if you want it lit; optional, after the bamboo. The bamboo path is the paid area: ¥2,000 in advance on EX Tabisaki Yoyaku (needs a SmartEX account, foreign cards accepted), or ¥1,500 cash at the booth by Nonomiya Shrine from about 17:30, which sold out nightly in 2025. Book the advance ticket for Tue 13 Oct; you cannot be at the booth at 17:30. Arriving after 19:30 puts you in the quiet window after the opening rush. Under-12s free.
  • 20:45
Kimono Forest at Randen Arashiyama station, then Randen homeadded
Six hundred lit kimono-fabric pillars beside the platform, free, on your way to the tram. Randen Arashiyama → Shijo-Omiya is 22 minutes and drops you a measured 10 minutes from the flat. In bed by 22:00; tomorrow is Fushimi Inari at 07:45.

Check out, wheel bags to Hankyu Omiya coin lockersluggage
Airbnb, so nobody holds bags. Large lockers at Hankyu Omiya (about ¥700, IC card); few of them, so be there by 07:45. If full, ecbo cloak booking nearby, or go straight to Osaka and do Fushimi Inari as a Kyoto-side stop on the way with bags in Kyoto Station lockers instead. Breakfast: konbini coffee and onigiri at Omiya; the proper one is at 10:00 on the way down from the gates, kitsune udon or inari sushi at Nezameya by the shrine entrance, serving since 1540.
  • 07:50
    Hankyu Omiya → Kyoto-Kawaramachi, walk to Keihan Gion-Shijo, Keihan → Fushimi-Inari

  • 08:20
Fushimi Inari Taisha, up to the Yotsutsuji viewpointadded
Free, open 24 hours. The gates are still quiet before 09:30. Yotsutsuji is 40 minutes up and gives the view over Kyoto; the full summit loop adds an hour and is the same tunnel of gates, so turn back at Yotsutsuji. Back at the station by 10:15.
  • 10:20
Keihan Fushimi-Inari → Chushojima, change to the Uji line → Uji
About 30 minutes. Uji station is at the north end of the Uji bridge.
  • 11:00
Tsuen tea house, Uji bridgeyour pick
Founded 1160, the oldest tea house in Japan, at the east end of the bridge two minutes from the station. Open 10:30–17:30, rarely a queue. Matcha with a sweet at the window over the river, then buy Uji matcha and hojicha to take home; the same-name Tsuen in Fushimi is not this one. Forty-five minutes.
  • 11:45
    Byodo-in, then lunchadded
Byodo-in’s Phoenix Hall is the temple on the ¥10 coin, 7 minutes from Tsuen, about ¥700, garden to 17:30; 40 minutes is enough. Lunch 12:30: cha-soba on Byodo-in Omotesando, the street you exit onto; any tea-shop counter, 30 minutes, cash. Backup if the street is packed: Itoh Kyuemon Uji Honten, 10 minutes’ walk, 20–40 minute queue. Nakamura Tokichi Honten is here too but queues 1–4 hours; walk past it. Leave Uji by 13:15.
  • 13:15

  • 16:00
    Arrive Tsurumibashi, self check-inplanned
The Airbnb is in Nishinari, a 10-minute walk from Shin-Imamiya (JR and Nankai) and from Shinsekai. Handy for USJ, Nara and Harukas.
  • 17:30
Shinsekai and Tsutenkaku tower on footadded
Retro neon district, a 10-minute walk from the flat. Sunset is about 17:25, so go up Tsutenkaku at 17:30 (last entry 20:30, about ¥1,000) for the city lights coming on, then walk Janjan Yokocho.
  • 19:00
    Dinner: Yaekatsu, Janjan Yokochochosen
10:30–20:30, closed Thursdays so Wednesday is fine. Locals’ kushikatsu, fluffy batter, sweet onion skewer; queue moves fast, be there by 18:30. Fallback if the line is over 30 minutes: Kushikatsu Daruma main store below Tsutenkaku, 11:00–22:30. Skewers ¥130–250, a full dinner ¥1,500–3,000, cash. One rule everywhere: never double-dip the sauce. After: Spa World next to Tsutenkaku is a 24-hour bath complex if anyone wants a soak after the luggage day. Early night before USJ.

Thursday · Universal Studios Japan

VIP Experience 5-hour tour, then Halloween Horror Nights. Eat before and after, not inside.
Tsurumibashi, NishinariNight 2 of 4
  • 09:00
Lie-in, then a big late breakfast in Shinsekaiadded
The 13:00 tour makes this your one slow morning. Eat properly now so you only need a snack inside the park: a kissaten (old-style coffee shop) morning set, or udon and onigiri from the shops around Tsutenkaku. Outside food is not allowed into USJ, so eat it here.
  • 10:45
    JR Shin-Imamiya → Nishikujo → Universal City
Osaka Loop Line to Nishikujo, change to the Yumesaki line. About 30 minutes plus the 5-minute walk from Universal City station.
  • 11:30
Enter with your Studio Pass, explore before the touradded
Tickets already bought. Walk the park and photograph Super Nintendo World’s exterior so the guided five hours are pure rides. One snack only inside; a churro or turkey leg, not a sit-down meal.
  • 13:00
    Universal VIP Experience, 5 hoursplanned
Meet at the VIP lounge by the entrance; confirm the start time on your voucher. Ask the guide to front-load Nintendo World and Harry Potter. The priority wristband stays active after the guide leaves.
  • 18:00
    Halloween Horror Nightsadded
Runs 11 Sep – 8 Nov 2026. Zombies take over the streets after dark. Mazes may need a timed ticket from the app. Use the wristband for one more round of headline rides at night.
  • 20:15
Leave the park. JR Universal City → Nishikujo → Tennoji
Skip CityWalk; it is park pricing. Yumesaki line to Nishikujo, then the Loop Line towards Shin-Imamiya and ride one more stop to Tennoji. About 35 minutes.
  • 21:00
Dinner in Tennoji, arriving about 20:50pick one
Harukas Dining (12–14F) closes at 22:00 with last orders 21:00–21:30 by shop, so it only works if you leave the park by 19:30. For a 20:50 arrival, these stay open: Ichiran Abeno, Tennoji-ekimae, tonkotsu ramen in solo booths, about ¥1,100, open late, no waiting on a Thursday night, the fast option after 12 hours on your feet. Ochanokosaisai, Tennoji, casual Kansai izakaya with obanzai plates and beer, open late, the sit-down option. Q’s Dining, Abeno Q’s Mall 4F, 11:00–23:00 by shop, a food floor with tonkatsu, udon and sushi if the group cannot agree. Brasserie Bo Jr, Tennoji MIO Plaza M2F, 11:00–23:00, last order 22:30, if someone wants a knife and fork. Skip kushikatsu; that was last night, and yakiniku is tomorrow.
  • 22:30
Walk or one JR stop home to Shin-Imamiyaadded
Fifteen minutes on foot through Shinsekai. In bed by 23:00; tomorrow starts at the castle at 09:00.

Friday · Castle, market, Shinsaibashi, Dotonbori

Your four Osaka stops, reordered north to south so you never backtrack.
Tsurumibashi, NishinariNight 3 of 4
  • 07:55
Walk + subway to Osaka Castle
5-minute walk to Hanazono-cho, Yotsubashi Line direct to Hommachi (4 stops, ~9 min), transfer to the Chuo Line (allow 5 min for the walk and wait), 2 stops to Tanimachi 4-chome (~5 min), then walk to Otemon Gate (13 min, the recommended approach into the park). About 37 minutes of real travel; leaving at 07:55 gets you to the gate by roughly 08:35 — nearly 30 minutes of slack before the tower opens.
  • 09:00
    Osaka Castlewas 01:30
Main tower 09:00–17:00 in October, last entry 16:30. Buy the timed e-ticket in advance or scan the on-site QR code — it skips the physical ticket line, which matters because tour-bus crowds arrive from about 10:30 and the queue keeps growing after that. Sixty minutes inside covers the museum floors; leave by 10:00.
  • 10:00
Castle → Osaka Tonkatsu, Dotonbori Main Store
Walk back out through Otemon Gate to Tanimachi 4-chome Station (15 min), Tanimachi Line to Tanimachi 9-chome (2 stops, ~5 min), transfer to the Sennichimae Line (allow 5 min), 1 stop to Nippombashi (~3 min), then a 2-minute walk to the restaurant at 1-1-10 Sennichimae — closer to the station than earlier notes suggested. About 30 minutes of real travel; 45 minutes budgeted gives 15 minutes of slack.
  • 10:45
Queue for Osaka Tonkatsu, Dotonbori Main Storeyour pick
Formerly Katsudon Chiyomatsu. Opens 11:00, cash only — no cards, no e-money, no QR pay; there's a Lawson ATM across the alley if you're short. No reservations, and the queue grows to 1–2 hours later in the day. Joining by 10:45 gives you 15 minutes ahead of the door and puts you in the first seating. The 5 cm thick katsudon is the order; one person can take the sando for the road. About ¥2,000 cash each.
  • 11:40
    Tonkatsu → Kuromon Market
A short walk north, about 6 minutes by map distance (not independently timed against a source — treat as approximate). 25 minutes budgeted, so there's slack even if you circle a block.
  • 12:05
Kuromon Market, grazing not lunchwas 03:00
Stalls are best before 15:00, so you're well inside that window. Uomaru Shoten (Nipponbashi 1-17-7) from your list is here if anyone still has room; otherwise fruit, tamagoyaki and a coffee. Botani Curry moves to your food bank.
  • 12:50
    Kuromon → Shinsaibashi-suji arcade
About 1.1 km on foot, roughly 15–18 minutes depending on pace and crowds — sources range from "15 minutes" to "15–20 minutes," so treat 18 as the safer number. 35 minutes budgeted, about 17 minutes of slack.
  • 13:25
    Shinsaibashi-suji shopping arcadewas 02:00
MooKEN from your food list is on this street (Shinsaibashisuji 1-5-26). Yakinikuen (Higashi-Shinsaibashi 1-7-10) is a block east, but tonight's dinner is already yakiniku, so skip it.
  • 14:25
Sit-down rest: coffee break in Shinsaibashiadded
Half an hour off your feet before Amerikamura and Dotonbori — any café along the arcade works. This is the day's built-in afternoon rest.
  • 14:55
    Shinsaibashi → Amerikamura
Amerikamura sits directly west of the arcade — about a 5-minute walk to Triangle Park. 20 minutes budgeted, 15 minutes of slack.
  • 15:15
    Amerikamura, Kogaryu takoyakifrom food tab
Nishishinsaibashi 2-18-4, in the Amemura triangle. A standing snack, then vintage shops and Orange Street.
  • 16:30
    Amerikamura → Ebisu Bridge
Under 10 minutes on foot from Amerikamura to the Glico sign / Ebisu Bridge. 25 minutes budgeted, 15 minutes of slack, and it lands you there ahead of golden hour rather than racing the sunset.
  • 16:55
    Dotonbori at duskwas 02:30
Sunset is about 17:25 — wander the riverside shops until the Glico running man sign lights up, get the Ebisu Bridge photo, then the Tombori River Cruise (20 minutes, departs on the hour and half-hour from 11:00–21:00, boards at Tazaemon Bridge next to Don Quijote). Board the 17:30 departure; it's popular at sunset, so consider booking ahead — if it's sold out or the line is long, skip it, you have slack later in the evening.
  • 17:50
    Cruise dock → Yakinikuya Daibokujou
The Comrade Dotonbori Building is a couple of minutes from the Glico sign and the cruise pier — about 5 minutes on foot. 20 minutes budgeted, 15 minutes of slack, putting you at the restaurant's building well before 18:50.
  • 18:10
Free time near Dotonbori before your tablebuffer
You're at the Comrade Dotonbori Building roughly 50 minutes ahead of your 19:00 seating — browse Don Quijote, the shops on the strip, or just sit down somewhere. This is deliberate slack, not a stop to fill.
  • 19:00
    Dinner: Yakinikuya Daibokujou, Dotonbori branchbooked
Your pick, table booked. 5th floor, Comrade Dotonbori Building, 1-6-15 Dotonbori, 3 minutes from Namba station and 2 from the Glico sign. All-you-can-eat Japanese Black wagyu yakiniku, 2-hour courses, about 90 cuts and seafood. Evening service from 17:00. Backup if full: Hananoki okonomiyaki, Nipponbashi 1-21-33, 7 minutes away, small, expect a wait.
  • 21:00
Don Quijote ferris wheel, Hozenji Yokocho lanesoptional
Hozenji has no set hours and its lantern-lit alley is at its best in the evening; most of its taverns stay open to 22:00–23:00. Forty-five minutes here is plenty.
  • 21:45
    Subway home
Walk to Namba or Nippombashi (~5 min), then the Yotsubashi Line runs direct to Hanazono-cho with no transfer — about 4 minutes, then a 5-minute walk to the Airbnb. About 20 minutes all in, matching the original estimate; this is the one leg without a full 15-minute pad, since nothing downstream depends on the exact minute.

Saturday · Nara half day, Harukas sunset

Deer, the Great Buddha, and back for a 300-metre view.
Tsurumibashi, NishinariNight 4 of 4 · Last hotel night before the bus
  • 07:15
Walk to Hanazono-cho, Yotsubashi line to Namba
5-minute walk to Hanazono-cho, then two stops (Daikokucho, Namba) on the Yotsubashi line, about 10 minutes including the wait. Budget a further 8–10 minutes on foot through the Namba station complex to reach the Kintetsu/Hanshin Namba Line platforms — different operators share the building but not the concourse. 45 minutes total gives a comfortable margin before the 08:00 train.
  • 08:00
    Kintetsu Limited Express, Osaka-Namba → Kintetsu-Nara
About 35 minutes direct with a reserved seat; the limited-express surcharge is roughly ¥520 on top of the ¥680 base fare. If this specific departure is missed, the Rapid Express needs no reservation and no surcharge, takes about 40 minutes, and runs every 10–15 minutes, so nothing is lost by relaxing the timing.
  • 08:35
    Walk to Todai-ji Daibutsuden
About 20 minutes east along Noborioji-dori from Kintetsu-Nara Station, per Todai-ji's own access page. Deer appear well before the temple gate.
  • 09:00
    Nara Park and Todai-jiplanned
Deer crackers are ¥200; bow and they bow back. Todai-ji Daibutsuden is open 07:30–17:30 in October (07:00–17:00 Nov–Mar), adult admission ¥800. About an hour here.
  • 10:00
    Walk to Nigatsu-do
About 12 minutes uphill from the Daibutsuden, roughly 900 metres.
  • 10:15
    Nigatsu-do hallplanned
Free veranda view over Nara Park and the city; 15 minutes is enough for photos.
  • 10:30
    Walk to Kasuga Taisha
About 20 minutes on foot through the forest lantern paths from Nigatsu-do to the shrine's main sanctuary.
  • 11:00
Kasuga Taisha shrine and its lantern pathsadded

  • 11:45
    Walk to Naramachi and Nakatani-do
About 10 minutes back toward Kintetsu-Nara Station; Nakatani-do sits on Higashimuki Shopping Street, close to the station and the edge of Naramachi.

    Nakatani-do mochi, lunch in Naramachiadded
Shop hours are 10:00–19:00 daily; the high-speed mochi-pounding show runs roughly every 30 minutes but tends to stop by about 15:00, so early-to-mid afternoon is the reliable window and this slot comfortably beats that cutoff. Naramachi's old merchant lanes have kakinoha sushi (persimmon-leaf) and cafés. About 75 minutes.

Walk to Kintetsu-Nara, Rapid Express back to Osaka-Namba
About 10 minutes on foot back to the station, then a Rapid Express (no reservation, no surcharge, fare about ¥680) takes about 40 minutes to Osaka-Namba; these run every 10–15 minutes so there's no train to chase.
  • 14:55
Through Namba to Nankai platforms, Nankai Main Line to Shin-Imamiya, walk home
About 8 minutes on foot through the Namba complex to the Nankai platforms, then roughly 5–8 minutes by train to Shin-Imamiya (a couple of stops), then the already-scouted 10-minute walk to the Airbnb. Nankai-line minutes here are an estimate — worth a last check on the platform departure board.

10-minute walk to Shin-Imamiya, then Tennoji is one JR stop or about a 15-minute walk if trains are inconvenient; Harukas 300 is directly above Tennoji Station. About 25–30 minutes door-to-door, landing well ahead of the 16:40 target entry.

Observatory hours are 09:00–22:00, last admission 21:30; adult admission is ¥2,200. Same-day tickets are sold at the 16F counter on a first-come basis — numbered tickets may be issued if it's busy, so arriving with margin matters more than a pre-booked time slot. Stay until the city lights come on, about 90 minutes.

Yakiniku was last night, so eel tonight. Unashige is at Bakuromachi 2-3-11, Chuo-ku (confirmed address). Saturday hours are 11:00–21:00, closed Sunday, so this leaves a wide margin before closing. Some listings show phone reservations as unavailable and point to booking online instead — worth confirming same-day, and treating a walk-in as the fallback. Botani Curry (Kawaramachi 4-5-3) is nearby but is a lunch spot; 16 Oct lunch is now Osaka Tonkatsu, so Botani is a spare. About 90 minutes.

About 30 minutes total, arriving with 15 minutes to spare before packing.

Alternative: the Shinki/Hankyu joint bus runs direct from Sannomiya Bus Terminal (4th stop, 1F) in about 50 minutes for ¥710, but only 09:00–16:25 with 7 departures a day, so it won't work for the return leg tonight.

Cards, in order of use: TNG eWallet Visa for every tap, 0% FX markup, 3% cashback on any single charge of RM 300 or more (pay the whole table, split later), 1.5% from RM 150, 0.5% below. Maybank 2 Amex on Sat 17, Sun 18, Sat 24, Sun 25 Oct up to RM 1,000 total, 5% weekend cashback. UOB for the Haruka online booking only, since numberless cards are refused. Wise as backup and second ATM. At every terminal choose JPY, never MYR. FX plan: RM 2,000 converted 8 Sep, RM 3,200 after the 18 Sep BoJ decision, rest at spot in Japan.
What your IC card rides actually cost (approx., per person): Hankyu Omiya → Kyoto-Kawaramachi ¥240 · Randen Shijo-Omiya → Arashiyama ¥250 · Hankyu Omiya → Osaka-Umeda ¥410 · JR Shin-Imamiya → Universal City ¥190 · Kintetsu Namba → Nara ¥680 (add ¥520 for the limited express seat) · Hankyu Umeda → Kobe-Sannomiya ¥330 · Sannomiya → Arima Onsen by subway and Kobe Electric Railway about ¥700. Whole Kansai week under ¥8,000 each, all tap-and-go. Tokyo adds roughly ¥8,000–10,000 each for the six days including the Kamakura trip, in line with the GPT document’s allowance; no Tokyo pass beats pay-as-you-go for this mix of JR, Metro, Toei, Tobu and Enoden. Top up at any station machine or in the wallet app.

That file is the other group’s plan: five people arriving KIX on 10 Oct, Osaka and Kyoto until the 17th, one night at Rinku, then the shared Tokyo leg. Only 19–25 Oct applies to you and has been merged above. What it got right, what it got wrong, and what it could not know.

Claim in the documentVerdictDetail
25 Oct: “airport, airline, terminal and flight time remain missing”; warns of a possible early-morning flightGap, now filledYour sheet has PR421 Haneda T3 at 15:00 and PR529 onward. Departure day is planned above.
18 Oct: group at Rinku, checkout 11:00, meeting point pending, bus “from Osaka”, Shinjuku drop preferredConflictYour plan meets in Arima at 12:00 and boards at Kobe Sannomiya. Rinku to Arima is about 2 h 15, so an 11:00 checkout cannot make noon. One of the two plans has to move; see missing item 08.
Tokyo route omits Tokyo Tower, Shibuya Sky and the go-kartGapAll three are on your sheet. Added on 21 and 24 Oct. The go-kart needs an IDP from JPJ before you fly; neither document had flagged it.
20 Oct: “from Oshiage, walking to the accommodation may be preferable”WrongOshiage to 3-34-25 Kameido is about 2.5 km. Hanzomon to Kinshicho plus one JR stop is 15 min, or Tobu Kameido line from Hikifune.
20 Oct: five-line, four-change rail route to Toyosu at 06:30Works, butTwo taxis do it in 25 min for about ¥3,000–3,500 each; or ride to Toyosu station and walk 20 min to drop the Yurikamome change. Corrected above.
23 Oct: “allow 60–90 minutes door-to-door until exact station access is mapped”Over-cautiousThe Chuo-Sobu local from Kameido runs direct to Kichijoji and Koenji, one seat, about 60 min. Also missed: the Ghibli Museum is in Inokashira Park and October tickets go on sale 10 Sep.
22 Oct: Sea Candle + Escar + night set ¥1,550; 1-day + night incl. Iwaya ¥1,950Unverified¥1,550 is the published price of the winter Shonan no Hoseki package. The official Shonan Candle 2026 page I read lists no set price; check EMot or Asoview when buying.
“Skytree variable pricing began 1 April 2026”; “JR East revised fares 14 March 2026”Not checkedPlausible, not verified here. Neither changes the plan: buy Skytree dated, ride on Suica.
Shonan Candle 2026: 10 Oct – 3 Nov, Thursday 17:00–20:00, last entry 19:30, rain cancels by noonCorrectMatches the official Enoshima Sea Candle announcement.
Yachiyo: Management Facilities Building 3F, weekdays 07:00–14:00, Tuesday matches the roast-pork-and-egg reportsCorrectRoast pork with eggs is Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Cash only.
Meiji Jingu October hours 05:40–16:40CorrectOfficial monthly table.
Toyosu open Tue 20 Oct, closed Wed 21 Oct; Crown Ace closed Wednesdays so Mori no Chaya insteadConsistentWednesday is a standard Toyosu closure; the Ueno swap is sensible. Restaurant-level hours not re-verified.
21 Oct route: JR to Asakusabashi then Toei Asakusa line; Ginza line to Ueno; JR Nippori to AkihabaraCorrectKept as is.
22 Oct: Sobu Rapid / Yokosuka corridor from Kinshicho to Kamakura; Enoshima Station is on the mainlandCorrectKept as is.
19 Oct: Shinjuku drop gives a straightforward Chuo-Sobu corridor to KameidoCorrectFair point against my earlier “Tokyo Station only” advice; either terminus works, Shinjuku is the one-seat ride. Updated above.

  • Receipts: open the Drive folder and mark it available offline in the Drive app.

Pack and carry

  • Cash: RM 1,200 (about ¥45,000) from a KL money changer before flying, then one TNG Visa pull of ¥60,000 at a 7-Eleven ATM in Osaka (free after one in-store tap that month, plus ¥220), Wise free allowance in Tokyo if needed. Cash only where forced: markets, shrines, Yachiyo, Kameido Gyoza, onsen, lockers.
  • Weather: 15–24 °C, low rain in mid-October. Light jacket for evenings and Arima. Typhoon season is tailing off; check the forecast on 10 Oct.

  • Small towel and coins: Arima public baths charge a few hundred yen for towels; lockers take coins or IC card.
  • Day bag for Arima and the bus: towel, change of clothes, neck pillow, eye mask, charger, passports. Suitcases sit in a Sannomiya locker for the day, then ride in the bus hold.
